Workshop Day 8.5.2010

Workshop Day on 8.5.10 ( Saturday)

at the morning, me and a friend ( uni friends) joint together. YES, looking at ALEX si fu, still the same, just maybe his little stomach is increasing his saiz. hahaha

Melinda, Seok Binn, Cheng, and Elaine still we keep in touch, as we go for penang players on fews weeks back attending "using Theather as Engaging Tool" at Alliance Francaise.

Today, Alex start the exercise with 3-5 magic questions.
this is general question Alex will alwayz do, asked participants to write down the question about the thoughts of the workshop? normally, this question is about HOW am I going to achieve WHAT i had asked? i am going to look for the answer of my own.

my questions:
(1) How can i apply the role playing with my work-group?
(2) Is there any prop needed?
(3) How can the Role Play engaging with SWP, Story telling that i wish can apply in group?
(4) What's differ the group play and role play in group?
(5) What's drama play? what about role play? is it the same??
(6) Does script needed in role play?i wonder... ....

after that
Alex had asked all of us to go to the next room, as all of us had submit "questions" as tickect to enter the "magic space"

Alex asked us to dissimulate a character that most not be ME
which mean, a behaviour which normally I won't act or do
so, i am thinking what should i play off??
huh,
finally i choose to be youngster, boy, who is looked like "ah Beng"
it's really hard for me to play it out

but at the final session
Alex summing up that all the character we play is actually somehow represent ourself, it's a SHADOW part of ourself.

note:
shadow = the inferior part of the personality. The sum of all personal and collective psychic elements, which , because of their incompability with the chosen conscious attitude, are denied expression of in life. As a result, they fuse into a spliter personality with contrary tendencies in the unconscious. It's effects can be positive as well as negative.

Oh My God! is that mean the opposite of me is "Ah Beng"???

  3. All the character parts that we play will contain both the conscious aspects of how we perceive the character but also will contain the unconscious projected aspects of ourselves onto the character given that it is our creation. Thus the question is not so much what you are that character but what unconscious projections have you attributed to the character. Thus if we care to examined and explore the character a bit deeper we may find that some of the attributes we given over the character is what we 'secretly' possessed but has split off from our conscious presentation of our everyday 'self' So for example the characteristics of Ah Beng low quality, "cho lo"...etc some of it maybe in our posession but generally suppresed/repressed thus we may then have a tendency to see others has possessing them rather than possibly us. This is our effort in wanting the outside world to see us maybe polite, high quality, patience, talking sense etc. Thus these 'unacceptable' aspects of ourselves may limit our growth potentials when they have not been integrated, become acceptabe to us, making it less likely to cause us possible 'conflicts' in our dealings with the world. Go back and see the definition of 'shadow' again and consider whether it relates to any of bits of the statement. DRP offers the safety of the 'denied' aspects to be expressed because 'its me and its not me' quality of the medium.
